Small enough to know you, big enough to make a difference

We love our school, and we are so proud to be part of the community here. We would love to be able to meet everyone in person and share what makes Holsworthy Community College so special, but that’s unfortunately not possible at the moment.  To give you a taste of the College, we will soon be publishing a short film, featuring our current students and staff, relaying what life is like here at HCC. You can also view our current prospectus online, which has detailed information about our school, our curriculum, and the opportunities we offer: https://www.hcc.devon.sch.uk/prospectus/

Our students and staff love the friendly and welcoming atmosphere at our school, and our relatively small size means our HCC family all get to know each other quickly. We provide individual and personalised pastoral care; we get to know each and every one of our students, ensuring a safe, supportive environment in which to thrive. Every child is given the best education possible through a rich and varied curriculum, ensuring success for every learner. Our weekly enrichment sessions span a range of interests to give students the time to pursue their passions or discover new ones. We also provide opportunities to take part in a variety of curriculum enhancing European trips.

The College works in close partnership with parents and the wider community. We know that learning beyond the classroom is an essential part of student development and a close working relationship with parents is crucial to our students’ success. We will keep parents informed of their child’s progress and development through parents’ evenings, regular reporting and our social media sites.

The Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust has its own Teaching School, the Dartmoor Teaching School Alliance, so the training and development opportunities for our teachers and teaching assistants are superb, meaning our staff have access to the latest ideas and innovations within education. Our dedicated support staff keep the wheels in motion, enabling our educators to concentrate on teaching our children.

We understand that choosing a secondary school is a big decision, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to speak to us about anything you’d like to know about Holsworthy Community College. If you have any questions at all, you can email questions@hcc.devon.sch.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible.  We will share these questions and our responses on a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ page on our website. https://www.hcc.devon.sch.uk/prospectus/

We would also encourage you to sign up to receive updates on our blog, as this will give you a flavour of life at HCC: holsworthycollege.wordpress.com. Follow us on Facebook too, to get snippets of our day, as well as updates and information: https://www.facebook.com/holsworthycollege

You are welcome to come and see our school for yourself, as we are offering 25-minute appointments with members of the Senior Leadership Team every Wednesday between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.  Your safety is our top concern, so any tours will be carefully managed in line with our Covid-19 risk assessment. If you would like to book a tour, you can do so by contacting the school on 01409 253430.

I hope to welcome you all to HCC soon and on behalf of the team at HCC, wish you all a very safe and successful year ahead.

“The KS4 options choices are great. I have had the opportunity to take Hospitality, which goes far beyond the normal cooking subjects and has been great to develop and refine my cheffing skills.” Scott

“The teachers are great and very helpful. They always take the time to help to improve your grades by spending time one to one and always emailing back if we contact them. They encourage you to achieve your very best every day.” Abi and Will
